Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to replace a fuse board?
A replacement fuse board starts from around £500 and range up to around £1000 depending on the size of property and location of your fuseboard. This includes testing and issuing a certificate. This certificate can be used later on to prove electrical safety in your home for insurance purposes, house sale etc.
Is a qualified electrician required to replace a fuse board?
Yes. All circuits in your home come back to your fuse board, meaning there is a lot of work to be done and done correctly to ensure test results and safety are adequate. Fresh Fusebox installers are qualified electricians that are under constant training to stay up to date with the latest BS7671 regulations.
Can a fuse board be replaced without a rewire?
Yes. Upon your initial free electrical safety check, we will run a test on your existing wiring to make sure that there are no issues. In most cases visual inspections and tests come back satisfactory, or just minor fixes may be needed. Because of the extra safety features on new consumer units, checking your existing electrics is very important. Any wiring that is potentially dangerous will be picked up by the new board and will cause it to trip.
How long does it take to replace a fuse board?
The majority of board changes will take an electrician anywhere from half a day to a full day plus paperwork that can be completed off site.
